Tamara Hamilton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker whose career has spanned more than three decades. Her work has included inpatient hospital care, community based social work, trauma informed care for homeless families, child, adolescent and family therapy, substance abuse treatment for adolescents and young adults, and much more. For the past ten years, she has served on the administration team as school counselor and director of the Cliff Valley Institute at Cliff Valley School, a pre-K through 8 progressive independent school in Atlanta.
Tamara earned her Master’s Degree from the Indiana University School of Social Work, and she holds a graduate certificate in Mind, Brain, and Teaching from the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University. She has a theoretical focus that is aligned with Positive Psychology and has advanced training in Motivational Interviewing. She is a client-centered clinician that is engaging, compassionate, and warm. Tamara is a frequent consultant and invited speaker regarding various child development topics. Her presentation style is informative, warm, and relatable as she combines her training in neurolearning, clinical professional experience, and personal stories as a mother of three. When Tamara isn’t in the office, you may find her on a hiking trail or onstage at Whole World Improv Theatre!
