I chose this work because I believe that by helping children, parents, and families improve connection, communication, and a sense of belonging and safety, I can make a significant impact on our community’s mental health and overall well-being. I’ve worked with kids and parents through various parts of my journey—from working as a nanny, working in the educational publishing field, leading parenting workshops, acting as president of a Moms Club, being a substitute teacher, and more.
I feel strongly about helping parents alongside their children, helping reinforce co-regulation skills and a sense of felt safety for the whole family. For my parenting support work, I pull heavily from the work of Dr. Dan Siegel (interpersonal neurobiology), Dr. Ross W. Greene (Collaborative & Proactive Solutions), and Robyn Gobbel (approachable, practical relational neuroscience).
In addition to my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University New England, I hold a BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro—and through my love of literature and stories, I pay special attention to how different aspects of our own life stories can limit or expand our possibilities.
On a personal note, I’m the parent of two young children who endlessly entertain and challenge me. I enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks, hiking, and chatting with friends about TV and movies.
