I offer play therapy and person-centered counseling to children, adolescents and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, gender identity, ADHD and emotional regulation. I am especially interested in supporting clients who are neurodivergent or LGBTQ+. Throughout my career, many of my clients have been on the spectrum, and so I have experience working with clients displaying a variety of expressions of autism. I have done self advocacy work through a community advisory board (georgiaautismhub.org) whose focus is on spreading information and resources about autism. Having someone to talk to about complicated feelings can make a huge difference in understanding and processing emotions.
I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons and other roleplaying games from a young age, and I really enjoy facilitating therapeutic D&D groups for adolescents. I’ve found that these types of groups offer an opportunity for clients to socialize and express themselves through a character, as well as practice creativity and cooperation with peers. I have also run groups focused around art therapy where clients were able to find their own ways to express themselves working on group and solo projects.
I personalize my sessions to best help clients explore and understand themselves so that we can find the most effective ways to address clinical challenges. Having open and honest communication about what goals are important to the client, and what methods would work best to reach them, can lead to big changes in a person’s life. I believe that through empowerment and understanding anyone can thrive.
