“You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress, simultaneously.” -Sophia Bush
As a child, I found my most authentic voice through the lens of a camera. Creating gives those engaging in the process their own opportunity to develop and strengthen that voice. My goal is to help guide you through the creative process, so you can comfortably express yourself in a safe and non-judgmental environment. This connection with art as a means of expression became the driving force for my career in art therapy.
Over the last 10 years, I have practiced primarily in behavioral health facilities and community mental health. I have worked with people of all ages, from children to seniors, and with a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, trauma, and psychosis. A local non-profit has also been an integral part of my art therapy career. At Kate’s Club, I provide bereavement services through art for children and adolescents.
During my sessions I strive to create a safe place for all of my clients. I encourage everyone to use a variety of materials, such as paint, clay, and collage, to help individuals express themselves in a non-verbal way. Through this process, I guide clients in gaining insight into their emotions, improving their self-awareness, and developing coping skills. I believe that art therapy is a powerful tool for healing and personal growth, and I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve their goals. I am a compassionate and empathetic therapist who truly cares about the people I work with.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Cazenovia College, a Master’s Degree of Art in Creative Arts Therapy from Hofstra University and am a registered Art Therapist with the Art Therapy Credentials Board.
